  • Gear Corner | Bluegrassbasics

Gear Corner Mandolin - Ibanez M510-BS - Sharon is hoping to pass this along to someone who will give it a good home and some playing time! Although not pictured, she does have the tailpiece cover that was taken off to facilitate string changes. Resonator Guitar - Flinthill Square Neck - Here's Tito's description: For sale is a Flinthill square neck Resonator Guitar that was modified by Paul Beard. Before selling these guitars, Paul would remove the factory resonator cone, bone nut, pick up and spider bridge and replace them with the better quality parts he used in his guitars. When I was taking lessons from Mike Auldridge, he played this guitar and even he was pleased with the way it sounded. This guitar is in excellent condition having spent most of its life on a stand, the only flaw is at the base of the neck where a small section of the body has a small crack. This does not affect the guitar and has been that way as long as I have owned the guitar (24 years). What's included with the guitar: 1. TKL Guitar case 2. Sabine AX2000 contact tuner (attached to guitar body) 3. Fender Auto Chromatic LX-12 Tuner 4. 3 sets of D'Addario EJ42 Phosphorus Bronze guitar strings 5. Guitar string pro-winder and clipper 6. Dunlop 925 tone bar 7. 3 Golden Gate thumb picks & 4 ProPik finger picks 8. Guitar neck cleaner brush 9. Guitar polishing cloth 10. Rosin 11. Teach yourself Dobro book 12. Guitar shoulder strap 13. Ultra Guitar stand Everything needed to play is included, the only thing not included is your time to play it!I live in Olney and I can bring it to the Bluegrass Jam if you would like to see or play it. Banjo - Gretsch G9400 Broadkaster Deluxe - The Gretsch G9400 Broadkaster Deluxe is a 5-string resonator banjo with a flathead tone ring - a bluegrass banjo. The action is low and the head is tight for a traditional bluegrass sound. Tuning knobs have been replaced with ebony to match the black finish scheme on the back of the neck. Unique inlay on the back of the resonator. Very, very slight fret-wear and head-wear from resting fingers. Finish chip on the peghead. Comes with a ProTec banjo case. • Tuners | Bluegrassbasics

< Back Tuners Being in tune with everyone else in the jam session is of the utmost importance! Checking your tuning often is essential as environmental changes like heat and humidity can change your tuning over the course of a jam session as well as putting on and taking off a capo. There are a wide variety of tuners available. As a multi-instrumentalist, the D'Addario Micro Tuners are appealing because they are small and discreet while providing a consistent tuning experience across instruments. They also tune using the vibrations of the instrument so a noisey jam session doesn't interfere with tuning. D'Addario Micro Guitar Tuner - For attaching to the headstock of various instruments - not just guitar. D'Addario Micro Soundhole Tuner - For attaching inside the soundhole of most guitars. D'Addario Micro Banjo Tuner - For attaching under the brackets of the banjo pot. D'Addario Violin/Viola Micro Tuner - For attaching to the body of a fiddle. D'Addario Eclipse Tuner - Great for multi-angles, especially on a dobro. Snark Super Tight Tuner - Another great option for a variety of instruments. Previous Next

  • Dobro/Resonator Capos | Bluegrassbasics

Dobro/Resonator Capos Shubb C6b - This is often the "first" capo for dobro players because it is so similar in form to a traditional guitar capo - in cost as well . One major advantage to this style capo is that the brass bar sits on top of the fret so it is always accurately lined up to play in tune. A considerable disadvantage is that each capo needs to be adjusted and set up for the guitar it is going to be used on. If you're using a Shubb, consult their website to make sure it is properly adjusted for the resonator guitar on which it's being used. Charlie's Slide Pro Capo - This capo ignores the neck of the guitar and attaches directly to the strings. Charlie's capo also has great one-handed adjustment with the wedge mechanism it uses to tighten the capo to the strings. It is small but heavy - a good thing - to get the most tone out of the instrument. Since it is attached only to the strings, a tuner - or very good ear - is essential to making sure it is positioned in the correct place. Sometimes perspective can cause it to be askew. It is expensive, but is sold directly from the manufacturer so there's never the hunt to find it "in stock" somewhere. *Not Pictured - Beard Wave Capo - This capo functions in a similar manner to Charlie's. The main difference is that the Beard Wave uses a screw/wheel to tighten the capo to the strings. This capo is a little more refined looking than Charlie's, is slightly more affordable, but can be difficult to find "in stock" at this time.
